The hit series on the National
Geographic Channel is back with more superhuman feats of
modern engineering. With Megamarvels from the Hoover Dam to
the Itaipu Dam to the Akaishi Kaiko Bridge, Season 2 of
Megastructures further reveals the drama, human interest and
breath taking technological innovation behind the world's most
impressive structures.
Using the online medium to
promote the programme, National geographic Channel has tied up
with Media2win to create an interactive property – Megalinx.
The game is based on a classic format. Jigsaw pieces fall from
the top of the screen, one by one, and can be moved by the
user to create the perfect picture. The pieces form a picture
of one of the Megastructures featured on the show. There are 3
megastructures to complete over 3 levels. Each level gets more
challenging. Players also have a chance to win a trip to Dubai
– the home of another Megamarvel: Palm Islands - man-made
islands so spectacular, they are visible from space.
The show is promoted through an online campaign on
Yahoo, Sify & Indiatimes – with innovative units and rich
media banners. A two week campaign timed with the series
launch on the National Geographic Channel, the focus is on the
core proposition: ‘Feel Small’ with innovations such as a
large than usual mouse cursor on the Sify homepage and a
shrunken Indiatimes homepage & more.
Rajesh
Sheshadri, Vice President - Marketing, National Geographic
Channel India said, “Staying true to our philosophy of making
our viewers rethink about the world they live in,
Megastructures Season 2, showcases engineering feats that have
turned the impossible into possible. Keeping this in mind, we
wanted a ‘Think again’ way to promote the series and MegaLinx
has made it possible; it is unique, fun, informative and
really addictive”.
Krishna Kumar, CEO, Media2win said,
“This was an exciting brief to work on. We created an
atmosphere to ensure that consumers get some interesting
factoids while getting entertained. Megalinx gives you
edutainment in a gaming format. Also the core idea of “Feel
Small” has been captured by a couple of interesting
innovations”.
Megastructures 2 premiered on the
National Geographic Channel on Monday, July 31 and will
continue all week nights at 10 pm till Friday, August
11.
